Latest town update

Posted November 3, 2026

The Town has reaffirmed its commitment to constructing the dog park. In a recent email, the Town Clerk said Harrison is awaiting environmental reports and will provide another update shortly.

The response did not identify the reports or provide a timeline for their completion or for construction. We’re seeking clarification and will share further information here.

The Town of Harrison has received your inquiry regarding the status of the planned Dog Park along Cape May Street. We are committed to constructing the Dog Park, but are awaiting the customary environmental reports attendant to same. We will provide an update shortly.
Background & town documents

The dog park appears on maps inside the park, but the designated area remains fenced and undeveloped. The 2020 planning report includes it in the waterfront park plans. The September 2023 council packet contains a proposed budget resolution identifying a $48,000 county grant allocation for the dog run. These records do not confirm a current construction or opening date.

A neighborhood effort

A park for everyone nearby.

What started with a group of 30 dog owners is an invitation to the wider neighborhood. Whether you live across the street or a walk away, you’re welcome to help move the dog park forward.
